Texas Revolution on the road to take on the Chicago Slaughter

The Texas Revolution of the IFL, take on the Chicago Slaughter at Sears Centre on Sunday March 17, 2013 at 2pm CST.

After what even head coach Billy Back would call a poor performance against the Cedar Rapids Titans in their season opener, the Revolution look to get on track and try to get in the win column for the first time in the 2013 IFL season. The Revolution are 0-1 to start off this season.

The Revs are headed into Chicago, with a different state of mind after that loss to the Titans. Here is what Back told me in an interview…

We are coming out to make a statement, and until the end of the season, no one knows who the big dogs of the IFL are going to be. It is going to be a different Revolution team from here on out, and I am pretty confident coming into this week. We challenged both sides of the ball, and special teams this week, and so far they are answering the call. Now we just have to bring it on Sunday in Chicago.

I asked Back if he felt this was a must win game on Sunday?

This is a must win, next week is a must win, in the IFL, they are all must wins. We have come out with our best foot forward, and take control of the game from the start.

Back said about the injuries for the Revolution squad…

Romance (Taylor) is back from injury, he was battling a groin injury. He will be in the line-up Sunday.

We lost Phillip Barnett for the next few weeks, our best receiver in the first game.

We also lost Tommy Crowley, and J.T. Brooks offensive linemen to injuries as well.

I asked Back about the new faces that will be in uniform for the Revolution…

R.J. Jackson he is a dynamic receiver out of LSU. He is actually the cousin of (QB) Marcus Jackson , and they have a good chemistry.

Keith Smith receiver out of Purdue, and spent some time with the Detroit Lions. He is a big framed kid who can actually move - he can run, he’s not a stagnant figure.

Rich Baily OL who played for me in Cincinnati, 6’3 330 kid. He is going to help on that O-line as we lost Crowley and Brooks. We are re-vamping the offence a little bit in order to play to our strengths.

I asked Back about the Slaughter team they are facing on Sunday, and the main concerns after they make the change at quarterback in Chicago…

I think that was a good move by coach Grohn over there, putting in the new QB. I mean Juice Williams is an athlete, but this Kirby kid gets out the and slings it around. He stands well (in the pocket), and is a first read guy, and of he sees an opening he takes off and he runs physical.

And Daniel DuFrene who monster, and in my eyes is one of the best tailbacks in this league, so now the Slaughter have a two headed monster. And then add on to the size of the receivers they have some weapons there.

The Texas Revolution management don’t forget the fans when they are on the road. They are holding a watch party for the away games at "The Londoner" at Waters Creek in Allen at 932 Garden Park, Allen, TX. Everyone is welcome to attend! The event starts at game time on Sunday around 1:45pm. Catch the game on a big screen.
