The Texas Revolution take the first loss of the 2012 IFL season in Cedar Rapids against the Titans 60-21 Friday night. As a result the Revolution have a lot of work to work on while in the bye this next week.
The Revolution did not even get on the board until the second half of this football game.
After Frankie Solomon Jr.’s interception in the beginning of the game, the Revolution went flat, and the offense couldn’t get started.
The game seemed to be one sided after the first score of the game, that came at the 09:46 mark of the first quarter. Carl Sims of the Titans caught a nine yard pass from Colton Hanson for the first touchdown of the game. It made the score 10-0.
The Titans, after the interception by Solomon of the Revolution, heated up and took over the game. By halftime it was 26-0 in favor of the Titans. By then, the fans knew they needed to see something from their team. They needed to know if they were just going to lay down. And they didn’t.
Marcus Jackson hit a completed pass for a two yard touchdown to Justin Siller with 10:44 in the third quarter, answering the Titans touchdown as they came out of the gate in the second half and scored a touchdown. The Revolution ended up getting outscored 33-21 in the second half.
As Tommy Benizo said of the performance…
I think everyone recognizes that,it is the first game in regular season history, and as a team, it is a little bit rough. No one is panicked that this is indicative of what is to come.
The stats for the Revolution were …
- Marcus Jackson went 12/42 114 yards and two touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also ran the ball seven time for 36 yards. He was also sacked 3 times and was rushed all night long.
- Mon Williams six carries for 30 yards and a touchdown.
- Phillips Barnett caught four passes 53 yards
- Justin Stiller caught 4 passes for 14 yards and a touchdown.
- Jeremy Brown caught two passes for 32 yards and a touchdown.
The Revolution now have 16 days to lick their wounds, as they are not back on the filed until Sunday March 17th vs. the Chicago Slaughter in Chicago.
They will also use that time to get healthy as WR Ramonce Taylor, and LB Anquanius Frazier did not make the trip up because of injury.
