Texas rates very low in health.com ratings on women's health

Today, Health.com released their list of the ten worst states for women's health, and Texas comes in at or near the bottom of the list in several key areas.

According to the ratings,Texas was dead last in the percentage of women receiving care during the first trimester at 62% compared to 89% in Massachusetts which had the best percentage among the states. Texas was also dead last in the percentage of women with health insurance, 31% had no insurance.

Also in the dubious distinctions, women in our state had the third-highest rate of chlamydia infections with 12% in 2010. According to the National Institute of Health chlamydia infection is the most common sexually transmitted disease in the United States.
