Texas Rangers rumors about Neftali Feliz will please fans. Playing in the Dominican Winter League, Texas Rangers rumors have him throwing at 98 mph. According to a report from Friday (Jan. 31), he was only throwing in the low 90s late in the 2013 season after returning from Tommy John Surgery.
New that his velocity is back is very important for the team and it indicates that he could certainly be competing for the closer job in Spring Training 2014. The team has other options in Joakim Soria and Tanner Scheppers that will make him work for it, but all signs point to him being ready to take on the role once more.
Getting a weapon like Felix back in the bullpen could be huge for the team, especially since they won't have to force him to return to the starting rotation. He got a nice little pay raise of $3 million as they avoided arbitration and he should be comfortable on the mound again after working hard in winter baseball.
These Texas Rangers rumors should draw the attention of fantasy baseball owners as well, because this makes Neftali Felix a pretty interesting name to watch on draft day. During the two seasons he was the closer for the team he was very dominant, posting a 2.73 ERA and 0.88 WHIP in 2013 and a 2.74 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in 2011. There is no reason to think he cannot duplicate numbers like those in the 2014 MLB season.
