On March 6 My Fox Austin reports that a Texas parent is under fire for her bad parenting skills when her four year old daughter went to school and told her teacher that her 14 year old brother gets tased for punishment when he doesn't come home on time. According to the court documents, the little girl told her teacher that her brother got into trouble last week and her dad held down her brother so her mother could tase him four times.
When the girl was questioned by the police, she picked up a pink crayon and drew a picture of the taser and told the police officer that her mother keeps it in her purse. She continued on, saying that her brother went to play basketball without permission and when he came home he was tased on the head, legs, arms, and back. Another sibling also confirmed that their brother gets tased when he is in trouble.
When the 14 year old was brought in for questioning, upon physical examination, he did have burn marks on his arms and back that were consistent with being tased with a stun gun. The mother was arrested, and has since been bailed out, for the incident. She claims that she only threatens her son with the taser because he doesn't listen. CPS is looking into the case and will likely place the boy with a family member or friend of the family until the case is resolved.
A local dealer that sells these stun guns for self-defense says that one to two seconds will cause muscle spasms and a dazed mental state. Three to five seconds could result in loss of balance and muscle control. It would also be likely that he would urinate on himself and these should never be used as a disciplinary technique.
What do you think of this mother's bad parenting techniques? Do you think she should be charged criminally?
