Antonio Daniels will make his NBDL debut tonight vs. the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. At 35 years of age, he will become the oldest player in D-League history. Daniels, drafted 4th overall in the 1997 NBA Draft by the Vancouver Grizzlies, has a lot of incentive to play well and have a great season for the Texas Legends. Daniels is looking for another shot at the NBA. He’s gotten himself into outstanding shape after battling back from a torn meniscus in his knee, which he suffered in 2009. His experience and leadership will be a huge key as the season progresses.
McCants was taken with the 14th overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves. McCants status with the Legends has been in question since the team acquired his rights. Based on recent reports, he is expected to join the team soon. He should provide some immediate scoring punch from the perimeter for Coach Nancy Lieberman.
Gaines, a 6-foot-6 guard out of the University of Louisville, was the 15th overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic. He averaged 14.3 points, 4.0 assists, and 2.8 rebounds last season for the Bakersfield Jam. The Legends landed Gaines via trade with the Jam in exchange for a second round draft pick in the 2011 NBA D-League Draft. Last season, he shot 41.6% from the 3-point line.
During his 8 games with the Colorado 14ers last season, Sean Williams averaged 9.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.9 blocks per game. He also has 126 games of NBA experience with the New Jersey Nets. The Nets drafted him 17th overall in the 2007 NBA Draft.
The Texas Legends selected Matt Rogers with the fourth overall pick of the 2010 NBA Development League draft. Rogers, a 6-foot-11 forward/center out of Southwest Baptist University in Missouri, averaged 21.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game during his senior season.
