Texas independence day 5k run in Austin

All of us need goals if we are going to succeed in our fitness journey, and small benchmarks help that process a lot.  A good example of such a benchmark would be a local 5k or 10k run, or a lifting competition.

Celebrate texas 5k run

This Saturday, there is a 5k run in Austin sponsored by an organization called Celebrate Texas, and it is an event organized to officially commemorate the great state of Texas and Texas Independence Day.

For those of you who have been jogging or walking on your off days from lifting, this is a great way to see how far your cardiovascular endurance has come along.  5 kilometers is approximately 3.1 miles, so this should be just enough to provide a good challenge, but not so much that it is not enjoyable.

Runners are to meet at the Congress bridge at 8am, and you can register here

Keeping it local

Participating in local events like this, and making purchases from local businesses, is part of what makes a community strong.

This particular run also benefits the Celebrate Texas Scholarship Fund, so your participation will help someone receive their college education.
