Texas Governor Rick Perry jumps into GOP presidential race (Slideshow, Video)

CHARLESTON, South Carolina – Blaming President Barack Obama for the S & P credit downgrade from AAA to AA, Texas Governor Rick Perry has announced his intentions to run for President of the United States.

Perry’s presidential announcement was riddled with criticism of Obama saying there has been four years of rising taxes, debt, unemployment and aimless foreign policy.  “We just need to get back to the truths of economic success,” Perry said.

“I am an incredibly proud American,” Perry said.  “I know one thing America is not broken, Washington D.C. is broken. “We need to revitalize our economy.  I will not accept the path that America is on, because a renewed nation needs a new president.  We need to get America working again. It was then when Perry said, "I declare to you my announcement for the candidacy as president of the United States.”

Perry said it is time for Americans to believe again.  “It’s time to believe in the potential of private enterprise to restore our standing in the world,” Perry said. “The change we seek will never emanate out of Washington D.C.  It will come from the hearts and minds of the citizens of Americans.  We roll up our sleeves and go to work, we fix things.”

“We will repeal Obama’s one size fits everyone health care plan,” Perry said.  “We will try to make Washington D.C. as non inconsequential as we possibly can.”

Perry told voters in a conference call Saturday from Columbia, South Carolina, that he wants to take on Obama and said that "I full well believe I'm going to win."
