From being a finalist to compete on NBC's "Fashion Star" to being the showstopper at L.A.'s Fashion Weekend, Texas native and emerging designer, Ashlee Brooks, is turning heads from coast to coast and gaining popularity in the fashion industry.
For someone who seems to have it all, Ashlee Brooks is anything but self-absorbed. She's instead as humble and as down to Earth as they come. These characteristics alone will capture the hearts of many and will be one of the many driving forces that will transcend Ashlee Brooks onto her path to being one of the top fashion designers.
Brooks invited the Examiner into her home for an exclusive interview and to discuss her aspirations and newfound successes with the release of her 2012 Fall and Winter collection. Just after the initial exchange of hello, it became strikingly apparent that Ashlee Brooks has that "It" factor; that same "It" factor that has skyrocketed other fashion designers from being just local talent to now household names.
The 2012 Fall and Winter Ashlee Brooks Collection took L.A. Fashion Weekend by storm this past March. From strapless and shear empire-waisted gowns to European(esque) tailored outerwear, Ashlee Brooks knows how to design clothing for the everyday woman and her body. (See slideshow.) As a woman who prides herself on being "curvy", Brooks specifically designs her collection to flatter the waistline and minimize the most troublesome areas of women. To top it all off, she hand picks all of her fabrics to ensure that each piece that she designs is of the highest quality and as luxurious in appearance as they feel.
Brooks has set her sights high and dreams of designing a custom piece for either Taylor Swift or the Hollywood trendsetter and pop superstar, Rihanna. One thing is clear. Whoever struts down the red carpet wearing a designer piece from the Ashlee Brooks Collection will undoubtedly be on the "Best Dressed" list and envied by many.
Brooks is currently designing custom wedding dresses for Dallas brides and gearing up for the release of her next collection. After being contacted by local Los Angeles boutiques following the successful debut at L.A. Fashion Weekend, Brooks is busier than ever. Despite it all, Ashlee Brooks stays true to her Texas roots and plans to give back in a huge way sometime in the future.
