An unarmed Texas father sauntered into Celina Elementary School Wednesday just north of Dallas, informed a greeter that he was there to shoot someone, and then casually walked through the school using his finger pointing at random people saying “I’m a shooter. Bang. You’re dead.”
Ron Miller, the harmless but foolish dad whose idea it was to show the school how unprepared it would be to deal with such a situation is now paying dearly for his folly and has been charged with third-degree felony charges of making a terroristic threat.
"Basically, he told one of the greeters, 'I am a gunman. My target is inside of the building. I'm going in the building. You stop me.'" ~ KVUE
After Miller entered several school offices saying “… you're dead, and you're dead …” he confessed to staffers that he wasn’t really there to shoot anyone, that he was just testing school security measures, and that he’d like to speak with the principal.
Although the school reported knowing that he was a parent of one of the students and that Miller was unarmed, Celina Elementary School would have to receive a failing grade for their school safety plan.
After Miller entered the school and announced his fraudulent intentions, the “school greeter froze in panic” according to NBC News. Miller was then able to walk through the school unhindered. Police weren’t called until after he left the building. No panic buttons were pushed. Parents were not immediately contacted.
Police arrested Miller Wednesday night and were holding him on a $75,000 bond.
According to Celina Independent School District superintendent Donny O'Dell, a letter was sent out to to parents Thursday, saying that Miller’s unauthorized security test was handled "in a rogue manner."
"We have always had a security plan in place that involved our police officials," O'Dell wrote. "However, because of recent events we have ramped-up our security efforts on all campuses."
