Texas crossover thrash band Birth A.D. to release 'I Blame You' in April (Photos)

Austin, Texas crossover thrash metal band Birth A.D. is set to release its debut full-length album through Unspeakable Axe Records, a new imprint of Dark Descent Records. The album, titled “I Blame You”, is the follow-up to the band’s first EP, self-released in 2009. This will be the first release of Unspeakable Axe Records.

Birth A.D. features Jeff Tandy (who also writes for Examiner) on bass and vocals and Mark Perry on drums, two members of the now defunct Texas black metal band Averse Sefira, whose final album, “Advent Parallax”, was released in 2008. Brian Morrison, whose background is in death metal bands, fills the guitar duties for the band.

Birth A.D. takes its influences from, in the band’s own words, “the fearsome tradition of crossover thrash forged by acts like D.R.I., S.O.D., C.O.C, and a lot of other bands with three-letter acronyms”. The band’s sound “relives all the best moments of 80s hardcore and thrash with an up-to-date take on America and society in the new millennium”.

Said the band of its partnership with Unspeakable Axe and Dark Descent Records for the release of “I Blame You”,:

Joining forces with Unspeakable Axe and Dark Descent proved to be the best choice for BIRTH A.D., as they are about the bands, the music, and doing things the old way (that is, the right way). We plan to cause even more problems with their support!

Some song titles set to be included on the debut full-length include “Failed State”, “Bring Back the Draft”, “Short Bus Society”, “Cause Problems”, and “I Blame You”. The cover features artwork by comic book artist Cliff Robinson and was produced by the famed Alex Perialas—known for producing works by thrash metal and crossover artists such as S.O.D., Anthrax, Overkill, Nuclear Assault, Testament, Carnivore, and others.
