As tensions continue to rise due to the government shutdown, the ugly, hypocritical side of politics has been on full display, especially after a Republican Rep. from Texas named Randy Neugebauer rebuked a National Park Service Ranger outside of the National World War II Memorial on Wednesday in front of a crowd of people saying that the National Park Service “should be ashamed” for putting out barricades to prevent veterans from gaining access.
And despite the fact that the National Park Service has been allowing vets into the memorial even though the shutdown does not allow for it, apparently that wasn’t good enough for Neugebauer.
In what honestly appeared to be as good of a political, grandstanding, photo op as a slick politician will ever find, Neugebauer looked at the ranger and began berating her.
He asked: “How do you look at them and…deny them access?”
“It’s difficult,” the park ranger responded.
“Well, it should be difficult,” replied an angry Neugebauer!
Then the park ranger said: “It is difficult. I’m sorry sir.”
Neugebauer said: “The Park Service should be ashamed of themselves.”
By that time, members in the crowd began to get involved.
One fed up onlooker told Neugebauer that the woman (the park ranger) was just doing her job. Then he said: “I’m a 30-year federal veteran—I’m out of work!”
Then Neugebauer tried to play the Washington, politics card as he responded and said:
“Well, the reason you are is because Reid (Sen. Harry Reid) decided to shutdown the government.”
But the angry man shot back at Neugebauer and said:
“No, it's because the government won't do its job and pass a budget."
Now one of the most common talking points that you will ever hear regarding America's two-party system is the supposed smart proclamation that the Democrats and the Republicans are really identical twins, but the misunderstood Republicans are being unfairly vilified as a racist, rigid, old, out of touch, anti-poor, anti-tolerance group of obstructionists by the massive, orchestrated attempts of the institutionalized, liberal, nanny state media that gets paid by the Obama administration to paint the Republicans as the proverbial bad guys, but is there any merit to this?
Outside of the scorched earth, obstructive, political policy of the Tea Party and the House Republicans that has been constructed to implement the perfect storm kind of atmosphere needed to even have a government shutdown, the hypocritical actions of Neugebauer certainly seem to indicate that the conservative mentality couldn't care less about the consequences as long as the political ends can justify the political means, which is the political annihilation of President Obama, Obamacare and the authority of the federal government.
From conservative, Tea Party friendly, heavy hitters like Rush Limbaugh saying that he hopes the president (Obama) fails to Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell saying that the number one priority of his party is to make President Obama a one term president, conservatives and Republicans have no one else to blame other than themselves in regard to the belief that the right wing is a lot further off track than the Democrats.
Also, it seems like the Republicans are much worse at reining in their political crap than the left wing due to incompetence, in the closet support, or in the case of many of these Tea Party members—flagrant support!
So whether it's former Republican candidate Todd Akin completely
massacring the issue of rape or Neugebauer chewing out a park ranger for doing their job in light of a government shutdown that Neugebauer and his party played a major role in bringing to culmination, it should be obvious that not all of the negativity surrounding the Republicans can be blamed on conservatively perceived things like a socialist based MSNBC, a liberal CNN, or anti-conservative culture like Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show.
A large majority of the blame belongs to the conservative mentality that Republicans and the Tea Party hold so dearly to their political hearts, and this fruitless, unapologetic tirade by Neugebauer is the proof, because if he honestly believes that Sen. Harry Reid is responsible for the shutdown, then why is he excoriating this park ranger?
In all honesty, the park ranger, along with the people and the vets, should have been excoriating the Congressman!
