Texas biopharmaceutical research expected to save lives and create jobs

Clinical trials and medical research is expected to not only save lives but also to bring jobs to Texas. More specific information is expected to be made available at a press conference on Monday 25, March at 12:30 p.m. to be held in the Lt. Governor’s Press Conference Room at the Texas State Capitol.

The clinical trials are being conducted in Texas by biopharmaceutical research companies in collaboration with local Texan research institutions, including The University of Texas. The release of a new report – "Research in Your Backyard: Pharmaceutical Clinical Trials in Texas" will also be discussed Monday.

Those expected to speak at the press conference are: Sen. Bob Deuell (R) of Greenville; Rep. Jim Murphy (R) of Houston; Tom Kowalski, President, Texas Healthcare and Bioscience Institute; Dr. Curtis Triplitt, Asst. Professor, Diabetes/Medicine, The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas Diabetes Institute; and Jeff Trewhitt, Senior Communications Director at PhRMA.
