The Texas Auto Writer's Association's Truck of Texas results (from this years Truck Rodeo) are listed below in the comments section..
This year at the Truck Rodeo Chrysler Group vehicles received the majority of the awards - 12 out of 24 categories to be exact.
Nissan was thrown a couple of bones for their 2013 Juke, (Midnight Edition) winning Compact CUV of Texas and Pathfinder SL 4x4 winning Full-Sized CUV of Texas titles.
The 2013 Nissan Frontier PRO4X took home Mid-Size Pick-Up Truck of Texas while our friends at GM/GMC received one award (total) for the Terrain Denali which won as the Compact Luxury SUV of Texas. Ford Motors also took home ONE award. To those who live and love trucks, especially within the State of Texas somehow the numbers just do not seem justified.
Justified in the sense that since Texas is the Truck Capital of the World it would be more logical that GM and Ford products received just as many awards as Ram/Chrysler/Dodge did. The Chrysler group makes great products - the Ram (and many of the manufacturer's models) is one of my favorite trucks. Does Ram deserve kudos - absolutely!
Although GM/GMC and Ford are proven and popular brands within the State, their singular awards just do not add up, nor do they seem to accurately reflect the amount of Fords and GM truck/SUV/CUV products that we see on the road today.
As automotive journalists we might be skilled in driving, design, and mechanics, but in this instance it seems that both Ford and GM were slighted a few well-deserved awards.
