Texas atheists trade porn for Bibles

Porn for Bibles: A student atheist group, the Atheist Agenda, located at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), is once again engaged in their annual "Smut for Smut" campaign, in which they offer pornography in exchange for Bibles, or other so called "holy" texts.

UTSA student Kyle Bush explains the action:

"It is to send a message that the stuff in the bible, and the Quran, and the Torah, and all that sort of thing is, in our case worse, in our opinion worse, than pornography."

Members of Atheist Agenda are quick to point out that the Bible and other religious texts are just as obscene as any pornography. According to the group, the Bible contains all sorts of misogyny, violence, torture and questionable sexual practices. Indeed, the Bible, the Koran and other religious texts are often filled with the most disgusting, degrading of images: genocide, infanticide, incest and the sexual abuse of children.

Previously the “Smut for Smut” campaign required police protection from angry Christians attempting to tear down signs and intimidate the atheists. Yet despite complaints, University officials say the atheist group has the right to conduct the swap.

UTSA spokesman David Gabler says, "As long as students are not violating laws or violating the Constitution, they have the freedom of speech and assembly."

The Atheist Agenda is an organization founded in 2005 by a group of atheist and agnostic students and teachers from the The University of Texas at San Antonio. The group is dedicated to the philosophy of free thought, as well as promoting aggressive activism against theology and theological institutions, encouraging non-believers to take pride in their history and community, and providing to them the same fellowship that those of a religious background share.

The Atheist Agenda frequently holds meetings open to all who wish to learn, and is known for staging demonstrations (most notably the "Smut for Smut" campaign). Since its creation, the Atheist Agenda has grown from a small gathering of students to a group of hundreds, with members at The University of Texas at Austin and University of Houston in addition to those at UTSA.

The sooner the human mind is universally evolved to a point where it expels all notions of supreme beings and organized religions the better the world will be. The inability of a multitude of people to live peacefully side by side is all down to this voodoo nonsense, and it is religion, not IPads, porn and Grunge music that is the ball and chain holding us down.

Atheists are people who are not just retarded, they are beyond retarded.

  • Aitchpb 1 year ago

    So, you're an atheist?

  • Franbksflying 1 year ago

What morons. It amazes me how unintelligent people are first to lump all religiouse text together and secondley just pulling bits and pieces out of context to support their failuires to live up to societal standards that are timelss (i.e. though shall not kill etc..). I guess you have to be ignorant to be an atheist. Monkey see monkey do.

  • Skooter 1 year ago

Ah yes... the old "out of context" wild card. This is the Christian's way of trying to explain away the horrors of the bible, usually ones who have never actually read it - ALL of it - for themselves. Nope, there's nothing horrible about Moses' army slaughtering tens of thousands of innocent people (women and children included) then keeping the young virgin girls for themselves, all condoned by this "loving" god (Numbers 31)... I must just be reading it "out of context."

  • Aitchpb 1 year ago

Yes Skooter, and let us not forget the clear morals of Judges 11:39 in which Jephthah burned his daughter alive (after giving her a two month reprieve in the woods) because of his promise to his imaginary friend.

People who believe in this religious nonsense should at least have the decency to read their religious texts. ALL OF IT. Not just piece mail it together through church sermons and family members.

READ, LEARN, EDUCATE. If atheists can do it, you should be able to as well.

I do not think religious groups should be in the business of attempting to heal addictions. I agree that porn can be as addictive certain drugs and alcohol, but a trained professional is the way a person should be going if he or she feels they are addicted to these vices. You wouldnt go to a pastor if you needed a heart transplant or some other health related issue, why would you take an addiction or mental problem to the bible. There are no gods, you have to deal with your issues here on earth. Mythical creatures can not save you. There are no gods!

  • PJ 1 year ago

To all you who believes that there is no GOD...One day you will find out if you are right or wrong...

  • Aitchpb 1 year ago

Sure, we believe there is no god because there is no evidence or facts to support it. Say "One day you will find out if you are right or wrong" could also apply to Zeus, Thor, Pink Unicorns, Horus, Flying Spaghetti Monsters and countless other things for which there isn't any evidence.

By all means continue spending your life believing in your imaginary friend, but do not try to sound as if we're the crazy ones because we don't believe in water-walking, no-semen births and other religious nonsense.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

wow. Nice value structure. Can't see what's next in a godless universe. Nietzchie was right when he said in a godless universe, everything is allowed. Scary thought. I guess we have to just wait and see what happens next as nothing would surprise me. But, just one last thought, how could an atheist possibly argue that a world without God is as tolerant and moral after this little display

  • Tom Pitt 1 year ago

One addiction for another, that is how atheists can help.
Atheism does not have any answers, it is just a movement which is going to Hell.

  • Aitchpb 1 year ago

Hell? Is that another one of your imaginary places at which your imaginary friends hang-out? Or is it another one of your imaginary friends?

  • Aitchpb 1 year ago

To all those who have an imaginary friend,

    PROVE IT.

After 5000 years of Judaism, 2000 years of Christianity and 1400 years or Islam not a single piece of evidence has been verified to show your imaginary friend is anything but that, imaginary.

Saying "faith" sustains your belief may give you comfort but it doesn't prove anything.

If I were to tell you that yogurt made my hair invisible, and I continued to stress it with all by strength, eventually you would turn to me and say "prove it".

So, I'm turning to you now.
You believe someone can walk on water? PROVE IT.
You believe a woman can give birth without semen? PROVE IT.
You believe that a man can rise from the dead? PROVE IT.
You believe your imaginary friend is real? PROVE IT.

For the record "proving it" does not mean ARBITRARILY assigning "miracles" to your imaginary friend.

science proves Christianity in some ways. according to scholars, the new testament written in different locations by different people at different times and basically all say the same thing. seems hard to say that this is pure coincidence. jewish and roman records show there was a man named Jesus who Pilot crucified. Those who knew Jesus and saw him rise that first Easter suffered and were martyrs telling of Jesus-- also recorded throughout History. Were they just crazy and wanted to live a life of suffering spreading nonsense? Or did they really witness the resurrection? the old testament was written by different people in different locations throughout history before the new testament. yet many of its predictions are fulfilled in the new testament with the messiah. If the books of the new testament are proven to be written in different locales by different people at different times and all line up with the same general description of events. I find it harder to believe that this didn't happen because science and historic records-- even those outside of religious records confirm it. Do some research yourself.

  • Tom Pitt 1 year ago

I will prove it as soon as you build me a time machine that will take me back 2000 yrs. I will take my own DSLR camera and take pictures of Jesus miracles. Until then, the New testament is the best proof.
In the mean time. Why don't you tell me who or what created nothingness?

To answer your other post. Even if Zeus turns out to be real. My God can kick any gods ass. Pawned.

    >After 5000 years of Judaism

Nonsense. The jewish scam is not 5000 years old. They are lying about the dates too.

  • ATHEISTS ARE THE DUMBEST, NON FREE THINKERS ON THE PLANET!! Why? Cause by being atheist you say you know everything!! Oh yes u do.. by saying there is no god you are no free thinker!! You are a closed minded BIGOT!! and to base your idiotice beleifs on science furthers my pint because ALL science is faith based!! What is known today will not stand tomorrow... even Einstein agrees with that, who beleived in an almighty by the way..... I tell you what free thinking idiots we creatinists will concede the big bang when you eveloutionists admit someone lit the fuse.... YOU ARE ALL SO DAMN STUPID!!!

  • TO AITCHPB:

You beleive in big bang? prove it!!
You beleive in evolution? prove it!!
You beleive in beleive thers no God? prove it

And dont point to some book, cause I will point to a bible.... Oh wait... is it FAITH you base your conclusions on?? ah,ha,ha you are too easy you freekin idiot!!!

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

First, saying "science proves Christianity in some ways" is a red herring, as science definitely DISPROVES it in others. Stop trying to use science to prove your ridiculous claims and then dismiss science when it doesn't suit your needs.

In addition saying "according to scholars, the new testament written in different locations by different people at different times and basically all say the same thing." is complete hogwash! You clearly have not read the Bible, nor have you read scholarly papers, as Matthew, Mark, Luke and John might have been written in different locations but that is mainly because they were written in different DECADES with Mark being written first some 65-70 years AFTER "Jesus' death".

There has been NO pieces of evidence to support claim.

Second, Einstein believed in a Diest god, which is completely compatible with everything in the universe. He did NOT believe in the "god" from the Bible. Study, learn, and educate yourself about history.

Third, there is BILLIONS of pieces of evidence for both the Big Bang and Evolution. I am NOT your science teacher. If you want to learn and educate yourself YOU and ONLY YOU will have to do that. Yes, you will have to learn from a book, but that book is verified as non-fiction. Your Bible can never be classified that way.

Fourth, the burdon of proof of a god lies with YOU not me. If you are making such unbelievable claims you have to prove it. (see my invisible hair example from above)

    Thanks

Let me add that the Bible does NOT agree at all. There is a different story about the "trail of Jesus" in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. By which one should we believe is accurate?

    Also,

  • Anon 1 year ago

you clearly haven't read the Bible as the first two chapters of Genesis disagree with each other.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Great idea! Might propose this at my uni.

For all those debaters on here, three points:
    1) If you believe in god, the onus of proof lies on you. If someone proposes something scientifically unlikely, it is his responsibility to prove it. Not mine to disprove it.
    2) Faith is not an magic bullet against rational thought. Religion is no different than any other claim that can be made. All the claims made by religions throughout the ages have been disproven - there is no throne in the clouds, and the Earth is not flat and orbited by the Sun - so now they cling to rational disbelief in the face of overwhelming evidence and call it 'faith'. Prove it or gtfo.
    3) Evolution has been proven. Many of the medicines you take simply wouldn't work without it, and ditto for all of biology and most of medical science. Whether you believe it is irrelevant, it's there, it's true, and we're using it to extend your ungrateful little life.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

This is ludicrous...it's the recorded actions of the wicked that's obscene, not the precepts that the Bible teaches! For every perverse generation, God has provided prophets and messengers of God who preached against the people and their evil practices, and who were then persecuted by that generation for it...The point is to show the struggle between light and dark. God's will prevails.
