As we know one of the biggest college football games is going to be played on Saturday between Alabama and Texas A&M. However, on Tuesday September 10, during the teleconference, Kevin Sumlin confirmed that starting safety, Floyd Raven will be out with a collarbone injury.
This is a huge blow to the Texas A&M defense that has not been whole all season. According to Campussportsnet.com, Raven was injured in the Sam Houston State game and there is no timetable for a return this season.
Floyd Raven was one of six players suspended on the defensive side of the ball in the Aggies’ first game. While, it’s good that his replacements have been receiving some prior game action, his absence may be the best news for the Alabama offense.
As far as the first games of 2013, it looked like the match up might be won by which weaker unit played better. Texas A&M has been giving up points and yards in their first two games, while Alabama struggled offensively in its lone contest. Now Alabama may have a huge advantage on the outside without Raven in the lineup.
