Texans should ignore the hype and do their own homework on Medicaid expansion

While other Republican Governors around the country are ‘all falling down like toy soldiers’ on Medicaid expansion in their states, Governor Rick Perry is sticking to his guns and as such, ‘he has no intention of following suit and investing in what he calls a broken system.’

But that’s not good enough for advocates who have taken to traveling to Austin, staging protests, demonstrations and in some instances, demanding the expansion, or if not for the total expansion, but perhaps working with the federal government, much like Arkansas and seek some kind of compromise.

Perry isn’t the only Republican in the state standing fast against the expansion, House Republicans has also ‘agreed not to expand Medicaid as called for under the federal Affordable Care Act — but left the door open to doing so if the Obama administration grants Texas enough flexibility.‘

One would have to cautiously examine compromising with this administration, especially when you consider it‘s track record on transparency, truthfulness and accountability. This administration‘s policies created the massive number of adults who are in need of government sponsored health care, yet they are unwilling to completely and totally fund their own version of health care.

The number of adults without health care is constantly growing daily and as such, Obama-care is reflective of a scheme on behalf of the federal government to invest in the beginning, but later divest and simply walk away, leaving the system to crash and burn, but with the responsibility on the shoulders of the states. Simply put, any system that’s federally funded, that’s constantly growing at a rate of approximately 300,000 a week is completely and totally, unsustainable.

The math associated with Obama-care is, as we all know, fuzzy at best and that requires careful examination, completely putting aside those astronomical figures in the beginning and concentrating on the aftermath, when states will have to clean up what the federal government has messed up.

While lawmakers are scrutinizing the complete picture, seeking other alternatives and completely ignoring advocates and their protests, demonstrations and demands, Texans should also ignore advocates and at least put in the time to do their own homework. Obama-care was promoted as being free and as we all now know, Socialism is not free.
