'Tetris' comes to life with 'Jenga Tetris' and 'Bop It Tetris'

Tetris will take a leap into the physical world with real-life games, according to a press release today by Hasbro Gaming. The company has reached a licensing deal with The Tetris Company to develop "multiple" products and games based on the popular tile-matching puzzle game, two of which are Jenga Tetris and Bop It Tetris.

"We're looking forward to offering consumers innovative face-to-face gaming experiences that let them stack and match the TETRIS shapes like never before," said Jonathan Berkowitz, Hasbro Gaming's VP of Marketing. Bop It Tetris will challenge players to match the traditional puzzle pieces with the familiar blocks shaped as lights, and the game accelerates as players progress, like the normal Bop It. Jenga Tetris will be very similar to normal Jenga, just with crazy "L" and "T" shapes and other tetrominoes to further ruin the average Jenga player.

Hasbo will begin its global launch of the games starting this fall, in August 2013.
