Local author, educator and historian Rhea Frances Tetley will address San Bernardino Historical Society on Thursday, February 6, at 7:00 P.M. inside the Christian R. Harris Memorial Hall, located next to Heritage House at the corner of 8th and “D” Streets in San Bernardino. This event is open to the public free of charge.

Tetley, whose lectures are always entertaining and informative, will talk about the history of Lake Arrowhead, a year-round destination for skiing, hiking, shopping and dining. Tourists and Hollywood stars have flocked to the lake front hotels and homes for many years. Rhea-Frances is a fourth-generation Californian whose family developed Valley of Enchantment near Lake Arrowhead. Arcadia Publishing published Tetley's Images of America: Lake Arrowhead.

San Bernardino Historical Society presents programs on the first Thursday of every month unless otherwise announced. These programs are always free and open to the public. Open House, held on Saturdays and Sundays, includes a tour of the 1891 Heritage House with Period furnishings, the Christian R. Harris Memorial Hall, the first jail in San Bernardino, and the Historical Society Library.

Tetley, a founding member of Rim of the World Historical Society, has authored several books on the history of Crestline, Lake Arrowhead and surrounding communities. Her books are available at the Society’s web site and at Mountain History Museum, where she often volunteers.

The Museum, located in the old fire house in Lake Arrowhead, is open weekends from May through October, weather permitting, and admission is free. The Museum web site displays a map and directions, as well as hours and other information.
