The West Texas Running Club hosts one of the hardest half marathons in the state this Saturday, November 9th at Buffalo Springs Lake. With three very challenging hills, this race is more than your typical half marathon. In addition to the half marathon, there will also be a flat out and back 2-mile race. Both events start at 9am near the church just inside the gates to the lake.
Online registration runs through Thursday, November 7th at 6pm. There will be no race day registration. Registration is $5 for running club members and children 12 and under and $15 for non-members. There will also be a gate fee of $2 for seniors and $3 for all others. Volunteers will get free entrance to the lake. Children must be at least 16 to run the half marathon.
Both runners and walkers are welcome on the 2-mile course. For the half marathon course, you must reach the 10-mile mark by 2 hours and 10 minutes (13 min/mile pace). If you do not reach the 10-mile mark by that point, you will be redirected to the finish.
If you’re up for challenges, this is the race for you!
