Test drive: 2010 Dodge Heavy Duty 2500 6.7 liter Cummins turbo diesel

Its communist, its purpose built if gives you not much more than you need and tells you what you do have. The dodge 2500 diesel is a truck meant to work, and look damn good doing it. A behemoth of a diesel engine, over an incredible handling system packed around unexpected luxury.

A wonderful truck that handles nothing like it should, it had an incredibly small turning radius and felt more like a car on the roads than huge truck. Bumps and rough road are not a problem when driving, heavy accelerating, and hard stops.

Its got more luxury than the people who will look into purchasing this behemoth of the road will know what to do with. Wood trim around the doors and center console. Leather wrapped steering wheel, double stitched seats that seem to hug you. Also for a diesel it is remarkably quiet, actually its quiet for a sound booth.

Matched with the opulence is the over abundance of technology. More than anyone should ever need, but all easy to figure out and use. It keeps up with the modern computer abilities in controlling the truck or finding information for your truck. You can learn tire pressure temperatures and pressures of all the lubricating fluids, trailer brake controls and so much more. All of this is accessible from the steering wheel and a small screen between the speedometer and the tachometer.

Under all of this luxury and technology is the most advanced diesel engine for a pick up on the market. It’s a big beautiful 6.7 liter 650 ft pounds of torque and 350 horsepower that can pull up to 13450 pounds of whatever weighs that much. Its got enough torque and power that if this power plant was in any other truck, I would have the frame truck for warping.

It proves that this truck is meant to work, don’t buy this truck if you need to make up for a lack of something. It’s also meant for people who need to work, who need to pull and carry a lot. It’s meant for farm hands to work in the mud, it’s meant for the horse showman to drive long hauls towing a lot.

Despite being all these great things and probably more that I haven’t discovered yet, it does have one down side. It is a huge truck, it’s a really big truck, in the city it feels bigger, it takes up a whole lane and will crush the hybrids, you run over.
