Nestled next to the Chicago Symphony, Tesori offers a cacophony of Italian inspired dishes that make diners sing its praises. Diners can grab a small bite with a cocktail in the lounge before a performance or linger in the dining room for an Italian inspired dinner.

Having dinner at Tesori is a lovely experience. The varied, yet complete menu, temps diners with farm fresh ingredients. Chef Andrew Deuel builds on his training at highly praised establishments and creates dishes that combine seasonal ingredients with classic techniques.

The appetizers guide diners on the Italian inspired journey. Two appetizers stand out on the menu. The octopus with san marzano relish, caper, and olive is robust. The octopus is tender yet chewy. Combined with the tomatoes and capers the dish awakens the palate for the later dishes. A second favorite, the scallops with celery root, frisee, applewood smoked bacon and apple offers a perfected seared scallop enveloped in brightness of the apple and frisee.

The pasta, made fresh daily in house, are delightful. If diners want to try a dish, the chef can split the dish amongst the table or provide a smaller portion option. A personal highlight was the braised chicken thigh ravioli with leeks, chaterelles and chicken jus. A composed bite that was light yet full of flavor. The chicken jus brought the full flavored chicken thigh to an opulent level.

Entrees feature many local ingredients. Locally sourced vegetables add seasonal flavors to favorite proteins. The seared rohan duck breast with Nichols Farm stewed beans, pancetta and tomato jam glaze was a bite to remember. Prepared medium, the succulent duck was offset with the sweetness of the tomato. The effect was a summery take on the hearty poultry.

For a brighter dish, the red snapper with fried baby artichoke hearts, and lemon caper buerre blanc was satisfying. The delectable sauce with the crispy snapper offered an flavor explosion. The brininess of the capers offset the delicate sauce. Paired with a crisp, white wine, the meal is a huge success.

Even slightly full with the appetizers and entrees, dessert cannot be skipped. For the chocolate lovers, the pot de creme offers the decadence of chocolate without being cloying sweet. The macerated apricots in honey whipped cream was an interesting choice to make the dish less sweet. Another popular choice is the plum crostada. With an almond streusel, almond creme anglaise, and vanilla gelato, the light, flaky pastry highlighted the juicy plum. It was a light, satisfying way to end the meal.
