Tesla outsells Porsche in California by number of registrations for the first half of 2013. The new Model S from Tesla Motors of Fremont, Calif., outsold ten major brands. According to United Press International on August 27, 2013, the fully electric car sold better than the likes of Jaguar, Land Rover, Lincoln, Volvo and more.
Over those six months, 4,714 new Teslas were registered, topping even conventional luxury models like Lexus GS, at 2,298, and Audi A6, at 1,619.
Tesla outsells Porsche as mentioned previously in, "Tesla outsells Porsche: Model S beats eight auto brands in California (Video)." Other brands beaten in the first six months of the year include FIAT, Buick and Mitsubishi.
Although Tesla outsells Porsche, there were a few auto brands that did even better. Mercedes and BMW are still the kings of the road when it comes to luxury cars in California. Overall both the Toyota Prius and the Honda Civic still bested Tesla, for now.
Clocking in for as much as some Porche models, the Tesla Model S does carry a luxury sticker price. The Model S is Tesla's four-door sedan entry which ranges in price depending on trim package from $69,900 to $105,400. The final price does not include Federal government subsidies.
