Tesla outsells Porsche and seven other automobile makers in California this year. The Model S beat all comers in the luxury car market except for Mercedes and BMW for 2013 so far. According to SlashGear on Aug. 26, 2013, the electric car now owns 12% of the Luxury and Sports vehicle segment with 4,714 registrations of the Model S in the first half of this year.
According to a recent California New Car Dealers Association report for the first part of 2013, new-vehicle registrations have marked up the Tesla Model S as a dominator in the luxury car category.
Tesla outsells Porsche is very big deal as their market share has risen from 0 percent to 0.6 percent year-over-year. Given that, they still trail the leaders, Toyota Prius and Honda Civic. Toyota had 33,987 registrations and Honda, 31,798 for the January through June 2013 timeframe.
Who could have imagined that Tesla outsells Porsche? Plus Jaguar, Volvo, Land Rover, Lincoln, FIAT, Buick and Mitsubishi. The Model S is Tesla's four-door sedan entry which ranges in price depending on trim package from $69,900 to $105,400. The final price does not include Federal government subsidies.
