Wednesday morning responses to Mark Walberg’s interview with Men’s Magazine are buzzing on the internet. Mark intimated that he could have saved the 9-11 plane from terrorists, without crashing into the World Trade Center. Given that hindsight is 50-50, many are calling that claim a bit arrogant. Mark has stated that he was scheduled for a flight on one of the downed 9-11 planes and that his flight was rescheduled. Wahlberg exact words were, “If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn’t have went down like it did. There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, ‘OK, we’re going to land somewhere safely, don’t worry.’”
Mark Wahlberg is currently involved with the movie Contraband which has opened with huge response, propelling it to the #1 spot. Mark took time to thank his fans on facebook, without any further clarification of his recent controversial statements. Starpulse has related that Mark has apologized for his insensitive remarks.
One blogger has picked up on the “first class” portion of the statement – pointing out that Wahlberg does not economize to save the country. Other posters are just as jeering of Wahlberg’s statements. In his defense, Wahlberg’s thoughts are not that much different than those that have in retrospect decided on a course of action, should one ever fly on a plane that is taken over by terrorists. Not many American’s are willing to let our country go through another 9/11 styled attack. That might surprise many international readers, given that the Hollywood crowd is generally antiwar, and even anti-gun. Most however, do not want their families directly threatened in any way, not even Hollywood stars like Mark Wahlberg.
