The world has been shocked by another terrorist attack, this time in a shopping mall in Africa. Al Jazeera reported on Sept. 21, 2013, "Al-Shabaab claims responsibility for Nairobi mall attack." The heavily armed group al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for an attack on a shopping mall in Nairobi, on Saturday, which killed at least 20 people and has left scores injured.
The Somali group has confirmed to Al Jazeera that it was behind this deadly attack, after it posted a series of ominous statements on Twitter. Kenya's Red Cross has reported that more than 50 people were wounded in the attack. Marie Harf, who is deputy spokeswoman for the U.S. State Department, said American citizens were among those injured. A children's day event was being hosted in the mall at the time of this brutal attack.

Children were among those killed in a senseless attack by gunmen on a shopping mall in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi on Saturday. After the initial assault shooting continued for hours. Al Shabaab is battling Kenyan and other African peacekeepers in Somalia, and had repeatedly threatened attacks on Kenyan soil if Nairobi refused to pull its troops out of Somalia.
