Terrin Thomas is Miss Indiana University 2013, pageant officials announced on Feb. 19.
The crowning makes Thomas eligible to be a contestant in the Miss Indiana Pageant. The winner of the Miss Indiana Pageant will represent her state at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City.
Thomas is a sophomore at the university, according to the pageant, where she majors in journalism.
"In addition to earning the title of Miss IU, Thomas received a $1,500 scholarship courtesy of the IU Foundation," the pageant said.
Thomas has a long history of pageantry.
She was a semifinalist at the Miss Indiana Teen USA 2011 pageant.
She is a former Miss Mideast Indiana Outstanding Teen who participated in the 2008 Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen Pageant.
She also reigned as Miss Duneland’s Outstanding Teen 2009.
"The Miss Indiana University Organization celebrates the multitude of student talent and service on the diverse IU-Bloomington campus," according to pageant officials. "Our scholarship pageant provides opportunities for articulate young women to be recognized for their accomplishments and to work toward personal goals."
