The American Subcontractors Association of Michigan (ASAM) today endorsed Terri Lynn Land to replace retiring Carl Levin in the November election. It is a foregone conclusion that Land will face Gary Peters in the general election as, even though the primary has not been held, neither candidate will appear on the primary ballot with opposition within their political party.

“The American Subcontractors Association of Michigan is proud to endorse Terri Lynn Land, a proven friend of small business, for the U.S. Senate,” said Ken Misiewicz, president of ASAM.

Subcontractors and general contractors have been disappointed in their ability to win federal contracts from Washington. “Terri has voiced strong support of critical subcontractor issues,” said Misiewicz.

He says Land has also been supportive of prompt payment legislation and payment protection for subcontractors on jobs involving public/private partnerships.

“I am honored to have the support of the American Subcontractors Association of Michigan because these job creators are on the front lines of government overregulation and inefficiency," said Land in accepting the endorsement.

Land went on to say she continued to support Michigan’s construction industry when she gets to Washington. As Secretary of State, she notes, she put the Uniform Commercial Codes online eliminating the need for contractors to make trips to Lansing. Land also created super Secretary of State offices were companies dealing internationally were able to get documents authenticated in a matter of minutes as opposed to the previous authentication method that took several weeks or required a trip to Lansing.
