No details were given as to why Terrelle Pryor was elected over Flynn. However, Coach Dennis Allen had mentioned that Flynn was still working on his sore arm on Monday, which was the reason why Flynn did not start against the Seahawks for the last week of preseason.
Also, it the report specifically states that Pryor is only to start for week 1, not really naming Pryor as the starter for the Oakland Raiders.
This announcement came after Coach Allen had addressed the media on Monday that he will not release the name of the starter until the end of the week.
The article on ESPN does not state how and who slipped the information on the starting quarterback for the Raiders against the Colts.
It seems like Terrelle Pryor will need to really prove himself on Sunday at Indianapolis. If he fails to shine again like he did with the Seahawks in Seattle last Thursday, Pryor might be benched and watch Matt Flynn take the helm.
Hopefully, one of these guys, Pryor or Flynn, steps up and provides consistency because the Oakland Raiders cannot afford to be switching quarterbacks every week.
The team needs consistency and composure with one quarterback leading the way, and that is that!
