“These guys are in the category of bands that perplex you, make you question why they aren’t famous, with their distinct, and unforgettable sound. Given the right break they will do amazing things.”-RJ Frometta (2012; Skope Entertainment)
After musically collaborating and forming the Alternative-Rock Band RYZE around their hometown located on the South Shore of Long Island more than 10 years ago, Vocalist Justin Aaron and Bassist Shawn Stuart decided to change the band name to Terra Stigma. Shortly after the name change, Aaron and Stuart began searching for additional members to complete Terra Stigma. In 2010, longtime friend and manager Rick Eberle introduced Aaron and Stuart to Guitarist Jared El. Shortly after El joined the band, the current members held an online audition and gained their fourth member, Drummer Dan Andree.
Since completing the band, the members of Terra Stigma began to collaborate and begin the songwriting process. Each member contributed equally with their own unique and diverse styles, with these individual talents being showcased through their recordings including on the sophomore release And Beyond. Released in 2011, And Beyond featured production by Marc Jordan (Velvet Revolver, The Cult) and Tom Baker (Stone Temple Pilots, Beastie Boys).
After recording the album, Bassist Shawn Stuart became known as the “driving force” behind Terra Stigma. Known as the “most motivated member” of the group, Stuart handled the promotional and business aspects of the band. This motivation would help advance the band from playing local bars/clubs to opening for major acts at larger venues across the country. During their most memorable gig held at Vanderbilt in Plainview, New York, the members of Terra Stigma were given the unique opportunity to play for a sold-out crowd while opening for Alternative-Rock band Phantom Planet (known for their hit “California”, the theme song for The O.C.). Another memorable moment was when the band performed at New York City’s CBGB Festival. Lead vocalist Justin Aaron states, “It was our favorite venue because the energy was unlike no other.”
In early 2013, Terra Stigma marked another milestone as they began recording their latest 5-song EP with Disturbed Bassist/Back-up Vocalist and Producer John Moyer. While currently recording their latest EP, Terra Stigma recently posted on their Facebook page, “The songs have been chosen for our New album -Someone with you- For the Record- Under a Thieving Sky- Recipe from Disaster- Manetism by Design and a possible acoustic song.”
