Update: FOX has yet to renew "Terra Nova" for Season 2, however producers are already readying production for next season.
According to Deadline, actors Jason O'Mara and Stephen Lang have already been secured, while they are also in search of "high-level" writers to help elevate the scripts going forward. FOX is expected to make a final decision in January to begin production in April for a September premiere.

Ratings for the show's season finale didn't help make Fox's decision any easier. The two-hour episode drew 7.2 million viewers and a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demo. That was slightly up from the week before when the sci-fi drama hit a series low.
However, strong DVR viewings, big international sales and ties to Stephen Spielberg make Season 2 of "Terra Nova" a strong possibility.

The finale will also see a surprise return to 2149 and "a head-scratching discovery that will leave the colonists — and the audience — rethinking the space-time fracture that connects the future with the past."
Two characters will meet their demise, including a fan favorite who is without family and will willingly go to [his or her] death in order to help the Shannons survive.
