Terps roll past Yellow Jackets, sit alone atop ACC

The Maryland Terrapins jumped out to a 12-2 lead en route to a 77-61 victory over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at the Comcast Center.

The victory moves the Terps to 2-0 in ACC play, which puts them alone at the top of the conference standings.

Maryland turned the ball over just six times in the contest. The Terps haven't had such few turnovers since a loss to Michigan State in the 2010 NCAA tournament.

Despite a quiet game from Dez Wells, who battled some foul trouble in the first half, Maryland got key contributions from a number of players.

Nick Faust continued his recent improvement, knocking down his first four three-point attempts and playing very well on the defensive end.

It was a great defensive effort from the Terps, which forced two shot-clock violations and limited Georgia Tech's shooting from beyond the arc.

Seth Allen continues to try and knock off the rust and struggled with his shot against the Yellow Jackets. Still, Maryland is now 3-0 with Allen in the lineup and looks like a different team.

Things get significantly tougher this week for the Terps with back-to-back road games against the Pittsburgh Panthers and Florida State Seminoles. The Terps will then host Notre Dame, which just knocked off Duke.

Maryland fans hoping the team has turned the corner and can make the NCAA tournament this year should have a much better idea of just how good this team is after the next three-game stretch.
