The Maryland Terrapins got off to a sloppy and sluggish start but fortunately had a lot of help from the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in a 71-60 win at the Comcast Center.

It was somewhat expected that the Terps might be a bit down after such a tough loss at Duke, but the performance for much of the first half was really embarrassing.

Nick Faust made three shots from behind the arc to finish with 11 points in the first half and help the Terps overcome such a poor start. For the game, Faust finished with a career-high 20 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Faust really seemed to spark the Terps, often coming up with a big play or basket when Wake Forest tried to cut into the lead in the second half. He still makes some questionable decisions with the basketball, but you can't knock his hustle and desire to win.

Once again, Dez Wells battled foul trouble and virtually disappeared from the game. He finished with just six points, although he did come up with four steals.

Mark Turgeon also stood by his comments following the Duke game that he was pleased with Damonte Dodd's effort and he would see more time in the upcoming game. Dodd played 11 minutes compared to just 3 for Shaquille Cleare, who seems to be getting buried deep on the bench.

It was a poor performance from the Terps for much of the night, but Wake Forest was just what the doctor ordered.

The Terps capitalized off of 18 Wake Forest turnovers, and a number of them were just very careless plays underneath their own basket that led directly to easy baskets. As bad as things look for Turgeon, I'd hate to be Jeff Bzdelik right about now.

Maryland gets a break this weekend before hosting top-ranked Syracuse Monday night. The Terps have just four games remaining in the ACC before the conference tournament, and time is running out to get a signature win.
