'Terminator' star Michael Biehn to host screening at Alamo

Michael Biehn, star of the original Terminator, is coming to Austin this weekend to host a screening of the seminal '80s sci fi Aliens at the Alamo Drafthouse. As an exciting bonus, Biehn will also hang around for the screening of his 2011 post-apocalyptic thriller The Divide. Not only will this '80s icon be introducing Aliens (screened on the original 35mm) and The Divide, but he'll kindly stick around for a Q&A after.

Biehn had his heyday in the '80s, that's the sad truth of it, but he has certainly left behind a legendary oeuvre that includes Aliens, Terminator, The Abyss, Navy Seals and even the lesser-known K2 and The Seventh Sign. He also co-starred in one of the best psychological/apocalyptic horror pics ever made, a little gem called The Divide.

Helmed by French horror director Xavier Gens, The Divide is a visceral study of human nature at its worst. Not only is it an intense and oft times disturbing thrill ride, but The Divide boasts an insanely cool ensemble cast that includes Heroes' Milo Ventimiglia, Michael Eklund, Rosanna Arquette, Lauren German and Courtney B. Vance. It screened at SXSW last year to amazing buzz, and as it was one of my favorite films at the festival I'm ecstatic that it's getting a screening (two actually).

For fans of Biehn, or any child of the 80s who grew up watching Kyle Reese kick a little Terminator ass, or galactic soldier Corporal Hicks help Ripley fight acid-for-blood monsters in Aliens, either of these events is a must-attend. Mark your calendars now for this cinema-geek extravaganza, Saturday Jan. 14th at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar.

Check out the trailer for The Divide...and if you see anything this weekend, this movie should be it!
