On paper, this should be an extremely good bout. On one hand, you have a visiting Jet City Bombers squad who, outside of a short amount of time about midway through last year, have pretty much held a death grip on the #10 spot in the western rankings over the last 2-3 years. And on the other hand, you have a Terminal City team that shot it's way up the rankings in 2012 (started the year ranked 23rd and ended it ranked 12th) and will be looking to continue their rise early in the 2013 season.

"We (TCRG) are a fiercely athletic and competitive team, we have been training our minds and bodies hard and fine tuning our strategies." says new TCRG all-star Jaime Edgar. "We are striving for Division 1 Playoffs 2013 and plan to get as many scrimmages and competitive bouts under our belts to help us get there."

But Edgar isn't expecting an easy bout on Saturday night, either. "Jet City is looking to be a good mix of veteran skaters and new talent." She said. "I have been able to play against and with some of these ladies and know they will definitely bring a lot to the track on Saturday."

Jet City captain Pippy Longstalker is also expecting a challenging time for her and her Bombers squad on Saturday night. "We are expecting a good fight from them" Longstalker stated. "They've been a team on the rise for the past couple seasons and we're not underestimating them in any way. We expect tight walls, squirrely jammers and hard hits, but we also expect to give it right back along with some Bombers strategy."

And just like their Saturday night counterparts, Jet City is also looking to start the 2013 campaign on an upward swing. And from what Longstalker said, it's looking like the Bombers are ramping-up their already considerable competitiveness. "Jet City's Bombers are looking feisty." Pippy stated. "The core of the 2012 team returned for this season and we have some new blood skating out there putting pressure on the veterans for roster spots."

What is Jet City's ultimate plan for the 2013 season? Well, the Division 1 playoffs, of course. And Jet City seems to have a plan in place to attain that goal for themselves. "We plan on getting there by playing smarter, faster, and stronger" says Longstalker. "We've increased our practice opportunities and we'll see how it pays off on the track."

Although Longstalker and Edgar could probably argue all day long as to which team will be victorious on Saturday night in Surrey, they both seem to agree that the fans in attendance will win no matter what. "These two teams are of comparable skill and it should be nothing short of an exciting bout" says Edgar. Longstalker continues on with how the implications on the rankings certainly ups the drama in this bout by saying "with the WFTDA switching over to a math-based ranking system and divisions for 2013, this is an incredible season-opener match-up that surely isn't to be missed and may help determine the future of both teams regarding end of season playoffs" and added "there's nothing better than a back and forth battle between evenly matched teams fighting to prove their strength." And if that doesn't hook you, perhaps Edgar's take on the facility itself will be the coolest, most appealing things to the people looking for an awesome bout on Saturday night. "The fact that this bout is an a more intimate venue is also an exciting aspect for the audience, they will be right in the thick of the action and can look forward to seeing some smart derby, talented athletes and hard hits."
