Gotta leave it to Teresa Giudice, from "Real Housewives of New Jersey," for being innovative when times are hard and being charged with fraud. According to Radar Online, March 21, 2014, she was doing a book signing and accepted only cash.
The book signing was held The Porsche Spring Soiree in Garfield on March 19, 2014. Kim Depaola hosted the event. For $110, you would receive dinner, wine, music and a fashion show. However, if you wanted your book signed by Teresa, it cost you another $25.
One guest who attended the lavish book signing told Radar, “Teresa was advertised as the celebrity guest and that she would be signing copies of her latest book. But nowhere was it advertised that she would be charging guests $25 to sign and take a photo with her!”
The source described the scene as, “When you walked up to her, the woman next to her was quick to advise that it was $25 and ‘cash only.’ Cash only? Who takes cash only? Even Teresa was telling guests it was ‘cash only, no receipts’ and she had bags of cash beside her where her colleague was collecting the money.”
Apparently, Teresa was taking the initiative, not to be left without any money, because the U.S. Government could garnish their wages. Teresa is already in trouble for fraud and facing a possible jail sentence. The couple was indicted on 41 counts, but they pled guilty to only several counts. She allegedly filed a report to the United States Probation Department, asking the judge to place her under house arrest instead of sending her to jail for 21 to 27 months.
Her husband, Joe, faces 37 to 46-months in jail and possible deportation back to Italy. Everyone speculated that she did not want a paper trail and this was a good way to do it.
What do you think? Is this just a clever way to pocket money without paying taxes, or does she have another reason for her 'cash only' sales?
