Teresa Giudice pleads guilty to fraud, but she wants to be under house arrest, not jail according to Radar Online, March 4, 2014. Teresa and her husband, Giuseppe “Joe" Giudice, from the reality TV show "Real Housewives of New Jersey" were in court Tuesday facing federal fraud charges. They allegedly concealed income and lied during bankruptcy proceedings.
Teresa and Joe entered a guilty plea on four counts of fraud. When they receive sentencing, Teresa could face 21 to 27 months in prison. Joe's sentence could call for more jail time. He faces 37 to 46 months in jail and possible deportation back to his home country of Italy.
A source for Radar Online said that Teresa would meet with the United States Probation Department. She will have a report written up, asking the judge to consider placing her under house arrest.
“The fact that she has four children and is the breadwinner for the family will drastically help her when it comes to determining if house arrest is appropriate.”
Teresa released a statement where she said that she takes full responsibility for her actions. She said, "I will describe the choices I made, continue to take responsibility for my decisions and express my remorse to Judge Salas and the public. I am heartbroken that this is affecting my family — especially my four young daughters, who mean more to me than anything in the world."
The couple was indicted on 41 counts. Their request for separate trials was denied.
