Terakaft brings sounds of the Sahara to Art Boutiki

You've got something on for next Sunday (April 27th), and it may be one of the most fascinating, intriguing happenings of the year.

The genre-defining sounds of Terakaft are set to roll through Art Boutiki (44 Race Street, San Jose), as they prepare for their 3rd release. Straight from the Sahara desert, Terakaft blends blues and rock music with the traditional sounds of the nomadic, Tuareg people of North Africa. The results are absolutely thrilling, as the troupe redefines the borders between African and Western music.

Made up from members of the seminal act, Tinariwen, Terkaft is an experience like no other. Celebrities in their homeland, the trio brings their distinct sound to the intimate confines of Art Boutiki, in an earth moving display of music and movement. Inspired by the turmoil of their homeland, the guitar-oriented act calls Mali home, touching off a literal and figurative revolution, both politically and musically.

Now, you can bear witness to a critically-heralded, truly-emotional blues, the way only Terakaft can.

Tickets are $15/$20 at the door. Show is at 7 p.m. Visit Art Boutiki for tickets and more info.
