Tera™ Rising release date announced; Tera™ goes free-to-play

The announcement is official, the news is in, the TeraMMO is going free-to-play with the release of their 'next evolution' coming February 5th! As of today Tera™ has officially announced of having submitted to the bandwagon sweeping the MMO industry, by officially going to a free-to-play model with their release of Tera™ Rising next month.

Not only will Tera™ Rising introduce this action-based MMO as free-to-play, but it also has several new additions to their game taking place including a new competitive dungeon, a PVP arena, and two new high level factions being added. For as exciting as this news may be for some; those familiar with the game or currently subscribed are possibly as abashed as many a subscriber to other MMO's have been with such announcements.

Initially Tera™ released with 16 possible servers for their players to choose from, it was not long before a server consolidation took place leaving only the 3 currently available. With the announcement of Tera™ Rising, 2 new servers are planned for addition. A quick glance at their server status page leaves no question as to why, it is a rare event since their consolidation to catch any of their servers below a 'High' population status even outside of peak play-times. In order to further accommodate their players with this transition they will be offering free character transfers across the same platform servers (PVP or PVE) for a limited time, along with an assurance of priority in any queues taking place to log-in if you are one of their 'founding members'.

Though not as popularly advertised as other MMO's released near the same time, Tera™ has definitely caught the attentions of many a player with its innovative and unique combat mechanics. With it going free-to-play next month there is a good chance exposure to these will expand, their developers are definitely hoping to see as much.
