Today, En Masse Entertainment and Bluehole Studio fully transitioned the action MMO "TERA" to a hybrid free-to-play business model. The latest patch for "TERA" called "TERA: Rising" coincides with the new model and introduces a number of changes.
Interested players can check out the full patch notes here. A number of class changes, PvP tweaks, and more can be found there. The important part of the of patch today, though, is the game's new free-to-play model.
With "TERA's" new model, anyone can play without paying a subscription. Of course, a subscription is still available giving the subscriber a few benefits and boosts. A full matrix describing the differences can be found here. Unlike other previously subscription based MMOs, "TERA" does not punish the returning player. All returning players should check out what they get to keep even as a free player.
Two new servers are even being opened for "TERA: Rising" so be sure to check out the game today. However, the game's new item mall has yet to be opened. The Valkyon Outfitters, the "TERA" store where subscriptions and vanity items will be sold, will be available "shortly."
