Mexican Monk and Mexican Kamikaze shooters.
Today is Saturday, which means that it is time for two great shot recipes. In honor of Labor Day - here are two occupation-themed shots: the Mexican Monk and the Mexican Kamikaze.
Mexican Monk
The Mexican Monk gets its name from the combination of tequila and Benedictine, an herbal liqueur concocted by a French monk. (LA Cocktails Examiner Aaron Vanek has more info on Benedictine.)
Ingredients
- 1/2 oz tequila blanco
- 1/4 oz Bendictine herbal liqueur
- 1/4 oz triple sec
- 1/4 oz pineapple juice
Directions
- Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice.
- Shake and strain into a shot glass.
Mexican Kamikaze
The Mexican Kamikaze gets its name from the vodka-based shot it is based upon: the Kamikaze (which can also be served as a cocktail). When you subsitute tequila for the vodka, you get a Mexican Kamikaze. (It tastes like a shot of a strong margarita!)
Ingredients
- 1 oz tequila (gold or blanco)
- 1/4 oz triple sec
- 1/4 oz lime juice
Directions
- Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice.
- Shake and strain into a shot glass.

Comments
the Kamikaze, a truly under-appreciated profession, with a lousy retirement plan
