Update: Questions have come up about who complained about the trooper's early-morning sexcapade. Examiner has learned that it was a female relative of the woman Cameron engaged in sexual intercourse with.
According to a disciplinary action memorandum, obtained by Examiner, on Aug. 23, Cameron was working the midnight shift and received a phone call from a woman. Cameron told her that he was going to the THP post in Claiborne County and then to get something to eat.
The woman "invited you stop by and eat at the residence where she was housesitting," the memorandum states. "After arriving at this residence, you and [the woman] had sexual intercourse."
Ten to 15 minutes later, the memorandum said, Cameron heard a report of a crash with injuries dispatched over his THP portable radio. He left to go to the crash scene.
"Trooper Cameron by your own admission, you and [the woman] had a sexual encounter while you were on-duty on August 23, 2013 between 0300 and 0330," the memorandum said. " ... your conduct brings disrespect and discredit to the Tennessee Highway Patrol."
Cameron was suspended Nov. 18 through Dec. 14 for unbecoming conduct. Cameron was also suspended earlier this year for filing a false police report. According to a Department of Safety and Homeland Security public information officer, Trooper Cameron joined the THP in January 2002. He has had no other suspensions besides the two this year.
