The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) has requested the public's help in locating a vehicle and its driver that caused a fatal crash this morning, a press release from the Department of Safety and Homeland Security said.
At 1:10 a.m., Carol Ann Williamson, 56, of Huntington, W. Va., was driving westbound on I-40 in a 2003 Pontiac Vibe when a vehicle rear-ended her at mile marker 128. The impact caused the Vibe to spin off the interstate, strike a culvert, and overturn several times. The vehicle that hit her did not stop. The THP believes that the vehicle may have been a tractor trailer.
Carol Williamson was transported to the hospital. Her passenger, Alice Williamson, 83, was killed in the crash.
If you witnessed the crash, or have any information regarding it, you are asked to call the THP's Jackson District office at 731-423-6635 or *847 on your cell phone.
