Tenacity Wine Shop will hold it's Friday Night Tasting this Friday, March 2, 2012 from 5-7pm. This weeks wine tasting in Longmont will feature wines from South Africa.

South African wines are grown in one of the world's most special places - with ancient soils. two oceans, soaring mountains and unparelleled natural beauty. the South African wine lands are renowned for their breathtaking scenery and the wines are as full of variety as the myriad of cultures that form the Rainbow Nation.

Secateurs Chenin Blanc 2010- South Africa-From the Badenhorst Family Wines. The 2010 spent time on its lees in concrete and steel tanks and some old casks which are very important parts of the maturation of the wine. It shows incredible texture and palate weight. The aromas are flinty with honey, orange blossoms and white stone fruit notes. All their wines are minimally fined and filtered.

Villiera "Down to Earth" Red Blend-2009- South Africa- 58% Touriga Nacional, 42% Shiraz- Touriga Nacional is a red wine grape that originated in Portugal and plays a major role in the blends of the best port wines. It provides structure and body to wine, with high tannins and concentrated flavors of black fruit. This wine is an explosion of spice and dark berry flavors and tannins that caress the palate. The extra dimension of integrated oak was all that was needed to complete the picture of a modern wine that illustrates the art of blending.

Barista Pinotage 2010- South Africa- This wine is named because of its intense, rich coffee and chocolate aromas with nuances of mulberry, plum and Maraschino cherries. But where do the coffee aromas come from? According to the vintner- "This is the magic and the mystery. What we do know for certain is they are a combination of a specific yeast strain, specific toasting, specific oak type and , of course, -pinotage grapes- only pinotage grapes produce these coffee flavors." Pairs well with meats: lamb, pork and game; is delicious with cheeses, fruits and desserts with Belgian chocolates.
