Since her latest release just came out, let’s take ten minutes to explore a Houston author’s take on her writing, her characters, herself.
What Shana Galen does: I write fast-paced adventurous historical romance novels. My latest release is If You Give a Rake a Ruby.
Why she likes it: Telling stories is an escape from every day life for me. I can forget the dishes and the laundry and all the mundane parts of life and have fun. That’s why I like to read too.
Inspiration comes from: Inspiration can come from anywhere for me. Most of the time something I’ve read or a movie will trigger an idea for me. For example, I got the idea for Lord and Lady Spy after watching Mr. and Mrs. Smith and thinking, what if that story took place in 1815? I had the idea for the Jewels of the Ton series after reading a book about a courtesan, My Lady Scandalous by Jo Manning.
If not writing, then what? I’d probably be doing something with animals. Maybe I’d run a shelter or work in a clinic.
What's next? In September the Lord and Lady Spy series continues with True Spies, and then in January, I have a novella out with the character of Blue from Lord and Lady Spy. Next spring the last book in the Jewels of the Ton series releases, Sapphires Are an Earl’s Best Friend.

What Fallon does that I wish I could do. I wish I could kick butt like Fallon. She is one tough lady.
Something Fallon would never do. Cry. Fallon is not the type to show too much emotion or vulnerability.
What Fallon would say about me. “Get out and live a little!”
What Fallon would say I do that embarrasses her. I try to make her act more vulnerable and open up to Warrick.
