Ten candles alight on the Yule altar. With this light comes the contemplation of your calling in this world. Not the path a job brings, but the Path that is before you as who you wish yourself to be. And for some of you, that is the call to Pagan ministry.
In light of the recent Dr. Phil slam against Wiccan Priesthood, it is important to remember that Pagan Ministry is no less than any other. It is one of scholarship, integrity, and sacredness. Is it a Path for you?
In a thread on ecauldron.net, the point of religious vocation was brought up several years ago. A post that stuck with this author then, and now, is this one
"Ministry, in our modern context, means spiritual education and community outreach. I'm not familiar with the Hellenic tradition, but I know ministry didn't exist from a Kemetic standpoint. Priests did the rituals, which weren't open to the general public. Some modern priests might find themselves wearing minister hats because the role has become necessary in our society. Pagans expect spiritual teachers and leaders, and somebody has to fulfill that role. Of course, you don't have to be a priest to do that. You also don't have to be a minister to be a priest...Ultimately this is a question of what your God wants, and what appeals to you" -as posted by Kemet
What does your God want from you? Or your Gods. What are you being called to do. Not the nine to five that pays the rent, but the true calling that lights your soul?
Let this night illuminate a path.
