An adorable apricot poodle puppy miraculously survived after some despicable culprit stuffed her into a trash bag where she was then dumped into a garbage truck, and ended up passing along the conveyor belt of San Francisco's Recycling yard reported Monday's nbcbayarea.com news.
Standing beside the conveyor belt as tons and tons of recyclables passed by, Gregory Foster, who pulls yesterday's treasures off the line to keep them out of landfills, noticed a moving trash bag. In a moment, a tiny little curly head popped up, and that's when Foster immediately stopped the conveyor line.
And there she was; a tiny ten-month-old little poodle mix with blood all over her face and bite wounds around her neck. Workers cuddled and cared for the petrified little one until San Francisco Animal Care and Control arrived; someone along the way named the pup Gem.
Animal Care and Control Captain Le-Ellis Brown is looking for the owner of Gem, but it would be very difficult to pinpoint the exact location where Gem was dumped.
Meanwhile the puppy is being treated by Animal Care's veterinarians and is expected to make a full recovery. Gem has garnered a huge amount of attention; who can imagine anyone throwing a puppy into a garbage bag and tossing her away to die like that? Gem, however will never be a victim again. Over 100 people have contacted San Francisco's Animal Care and Control offering to adopt the beautiful pooch. A lottery of the screened candidates will determine Gem's new humans.
There are so many more beautiful puppies, kittens, and dogs and cats needing homes at the San Francisco Animal Care and Control. Why not choose another worthy four legged friend to honor Gem?
