What does it mean to be a spiritual being having a human experience and how does it relate to our everyday lives? We are not human beings striving to be spiritual; we are already spiritual beings. Meaning, we existed in spiritual form before we were born into this physical world. Simply put, our essence is energy.
During the physical incarnation, it is common to find oneself energetically out of balance due to the influx of toxins in the food, the environment or the sub-conscious mind. If there is some kind of problem within the mind or body, such as repeatedly feeling unwell, like you have hit a ‘road block’ or are stuck in a familiar pattern, there is a high probability of an imbalance in the non-physical (energetic) part of you and energy healing may be an option.
Although Energy Healing is not a substitute for treatment by a doctor or traditional medicine, it complements Eastern and Western medicine as a technique that helps to promote healing by channeling Divine/Universal energy, revitalizing your body, mind and spirit.
Here are few examples of healing modalities currently available:
Applied Kinesiology uses muscle testing to access conditions and detects not only imbalances in the body system, but sensitivities to food and toxic substances in the environment. The premise is when “you say or think something that resonates as true with the subconscious mind, the electrical and magnetic fields around the body actually become stronger. Similarly, when you say or think something that resonates as false with the subconscious mind, the electrical and magnetic fields around the body become weaker.” Because the strength of a muscle is influenced by the strength of the electromagnetic field which surrounds that muscle, muscle strength can be measured through this modality to determine the strength of the individual’s electromagnetic field.
Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on healing technique that releases tensions deep within the nervous system. This release helps systems in the body relax and self-correct. I recently experienced a craniosacral healing session. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but upon seeing the flyer describing the benefits of a session, I immediately felt “yes” and scheduled an appointment. During the session the practitioner gently touched specific points on my head, neck, abdominal area and feet to “unwind” blocks within my nervous system. Afterwards, I felt clear, as if I could clearly see and perceive. According to the practitioner, the results are time released and could continue to arise throughout the day and remainder of the week.
Divine Light Healing is light energy that is positive, spiritual energy that is transmitted from the palm of the hand. The energy is called from the highest dimension and can be called God, Source, the Universe or however you choose to call it and initiate revitalization of the spirit, mind and body.
Etheric Healing is a non-invasive alternative healing modality. In this setting, the practitioner works to remind the body of its true essence by passing her/his hands through the etheric body, which are two to twelve inches above the physical body. Dr. Sue Morter is a leading practitioner who bridges scientific information with integrative breath work to promote healing throughout the layers of the energy field.
Healing Touch is an energy therapy in which the practitioner consciously uses her/his hands in a heart-centered and intentional way to support and facilitate physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health by clearing the energy field (aura) and balancing the energy centers (chakras). An excellent book related to this modality is The Subtle Body: An Encyclopedia of Your Energetic Anatomy by Cyndi Dale.
Chiropractic Therapy is the art of spinal manipulation to release all pressures from the nerves that extend from the spine and connect to various organs; thus relieving stress, pain and any decrease in functionality. This form of therapy is also beneficial in normalizing joint function after an injury, relieving airways for asthma and assisting with better sleep.
Pranic Healing is a simple, powerful, effective no-touch energy technique. Through feeling the aura, the practitioner is able to identify and bring into awareness for healing an energy block that can cause physical, emotional and even financial imbalances in one’s life. By using spiritual life force (prana) to cleanse, energize and balance energy body disruptions. This healing modality was helpful for me to identify residual energy blocks that were ready to come into my awareness for healing. As the blocks arise, you will feel the emotion associated with the block such as anger, sadness, grief, etc. However, days following the session, I also noted feeling more patient and less tense.
Reflexology is the ancient application of appropriate pressure to specific points and areas on the feet, hands, or ears. Reflexologists believe that these areas and reflex points correspond to different body organs and systems, and that pressing them has a beneficial effect on the organs and person's general health. For example, reflexology holds that a specific spot in the arch of the foot corresponds to the bladder point. When a reflexology practitioner uses thumbs or fingers to apply appropriate pressure to this area, it affects bladder functioning.
Reiki is also an ancient (Japanese) healing art that allows the practitioner to tap into higher frequencies or natural cosmic energy and direct this energy to promote healing and remove deep seated causes that can block higher potentials such as serenity, compassion, wholeness and love. What sets Reiki apart is that a practitioner cannot simply learn the practice by reading a book. In order to get the energy flowing through the hands, a practitioner must receive attunements from a Reiki master to “unlock” what is already present.
Theta Healing recognizes the five main frequency brain waves: Beta, Alpha, Theta, Delta, and Gamma. Theta brain waves can be considered the subconscious; they govern the part of our mind that lies between the conscious and the unconscious, retain memories and feelings and also direct your beliefs and your behavior. ThetaHealing is a technique of spiritual philosophy focusing on thought and prayer. By changing your brain wave cycle to include the “Theta” state, you change the way the mind influences the body and behavior.
Whether you are healing on an emotional, physical or spiritual level, healing is not an overnight process. Making the decision to heal your self requires a conscious choice that is made over and over again while remembering, "The only work that will ultimately bring any good to any of us is the work of contributing to the healing of the world."
