The Grinch, created by Dr. Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Suess) in 1957 is a classic cartoon character adored by countless number of children and their parents.
The Grinch was first introduced to kids in Dr. Seuss’s book, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!. Since the book was written in 1957, the popularity of the character grew to the making of a television special in 1966, and ultimately a feature film in 2000. The character in the film was played by Jim Carrey. The Grinch is a cat-like creature with a stingy heart that lives in a cave on top of a mountain. He is jealous of the happy citizens of Whoville as they prepare for Christmas, so he devises a plan to steal all of their Christmas decorations and presents in order to prevent Christmas from happening. He soon learned that Christmas is more than presents and decorations, but the love of family and friends. The citizens of Whoville embraced him and invited him to be a part of their community.
After more than 50 years, the Grinch is still just as popular. Make watching the classic “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” a family holiday tradition for your family this year.
