Temptations singer Otis Harris dies after a brave 14-year battle with prostate cancer. Harris was just 62-years old. On Feb. 22, Reuters confirmed that Otis "Damon" Harris was on hospice and passed away in his native city of Baltimore. Harris was diagnosed with cancer at age 47 and in 2001, he founded the Damon Harris Cancer Foundation in 2001. He felt as though he wanted to "give back" during his fight.
Harris joined The Temptations in 1971 and was most well-known for his vocals on "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone." He won three Grammy Awards with the group in four years. He sang with them until 1975.
The Temptations singer dies leaving behind quite the legacy. He always admired The Temptations and he got the chance to live out an amazing dream. Many people loved him and he was a very big part of music in the 70's. His vocals can be heard on the tracks "Take a Look Around" and "Masterpiece."
According to The Inquisitr, Otis "Damon" Harris was able to get his cancer to go in to remission but it came back about three years ago. According to sources, the returned cancer had "gotten pretty bad."
The Temptations singer died young but he did a lot of good things in his life. He will be greatly missed by family and friends and will always be remembered for his talents.
